About the Role:

RFU News is looking for skilled and motivated freelance motion designers to produce animated videos on war and geopolitical developments, primarily in Europe, but also covering key regions in the Middle East, Africa, and other areas of strategic interest. This is a remote freelance role with a flexible schedule, suitable for full-time or part-time work.

Responsibilities:

  • Video creation: 2D map animation
  • Thumbnail development

Requirements:

  • Proficiency with industry-standard animation and design tools (e.g., After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Ability to design and animate maps with dynamic elements (troop movements, territorial changes, timelines, overlays).
  • Knowledge of motion graphics principles: pacing, transitions, typography integration.
  • Experience in visual storytelling with abstract concepts (geopolitical strategies, conflicts, alliances).
  • Strong eye for color theory and readability, especially for presenting complex data clearly.
  • Ability to follow brand/style guidelines while proposing creative variations.
  • Strong time management skills for tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, with quality control for consistency in fonts, colors, and motion styles across episodes.
  • Strong command of English (written and analytical).
  • Ability to work quickly and adapt your style when needed.

  • Each animation includes:
    • Animated video: ≈5-6 minutes of animation
    • Thumbnail: with supporting materials for translation (e.g., project file).
