New Ukrainian offensive is speeding up as they advance closer to Russia’s main hub
By bypassing contested urban defense in Komar and maneuvering west of the Mokri Yaly River toward Burlatske and Vesele, Ukrainian forces have compressed the distance to Velyka Novosilka from twenty-one to seven kilometers. This advance establishes direct fire control via tube artillery, FPV drones, and bomber UAVs over Velyka Novosilka, neutralizing its primary function as the Russian theater hub for force accumulation and supply redistribution. The tactical seizure of the northwest high ground grants Ukrainian drone and electronic warfare units superior line-of-sight elevation and signal propagation over Russian forces positioned in the lowlands. Disrupting these logistical ground lines of communication induces acute supply deficits across Russian forward formations, degrading their capacity to sustain coherent defensive operations. Consequently, converging pressure from the north and west threatens to dismantle the broader defensive perimeter, transforming a critical staging base into an untenable operational liability.
