Ukraine just buried the Russian tank doctrine for good
Modern battlefield conditions have turned mechanized assaults into a liability rather than an advantage for Russian forces. Precision weapons, dense minefields, and constant drone surveillance ensure that armored columns are detected almost immediately after movement begins. Once spotted, these formations are tracked continuously, eliminating any chance of surprise or maneuver. Russian vehicles are often engaged and disabled while still en route, long before reaching Ukrainian frontline positions. Repeated use of the same axes of advance further amplifies losses, as defenders pre-register fires and turn rear areas into predictable kill zones. As a result, the outcome of many armored assaults is effectively decided before contact with the frontline is ever made.
