Ukrainians take Russian Caspian Sea Fleet by storm
Ukraine executed a coordinated, multi-layered operation in the Caspian Sea that exposed the vulnerability of Russia’s internal maritime routes. Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, working with the Black Spark partisan network, precisely struck military transport barges that Moscow believed were protected by distance and geography. At the same time, SBU Alpha units carried out repeated long-range drone strikes on key offshore oil platforms, forcing the shutdown of dozens of wells and disrupting pressure-control systems critical to production. The tempo of the attacks prevented Russian repair efforts, turning initial damage into sustained operational paralysis. By targeting both transport vessels and energy infrastructure, Ukraine demonstrated a shift toward dismantling the systems that sustain Russia’s war effort rather than isolated military targets. This operation proved that even Russia’s most “secure” maritime zone is now within Ukraine’s reach and cannot be reliably defended.
