Continuous drone coverage removes gaps once exploited at night

The traditional advantage of nighttime concealment in warfare is being neutralized by the widespread use of thermal-equipped drones. In the early stages of the conflict, Russian infantry utilized darkness for infiltration, but the proliferation of Ukrainian thermal sensors has made nighttime movements as visible as those during the day. This has forced a shift toward weather-based concealment, using fog and rain to mask heat signatures. Russian tactics now involve smaller, isolated units and improvised methods like thermal blankets to evade detection. While weather currently provides a temporary refuge, ongoing technological advancements in high-resolution sensors aim to eliminate even this environmental barrier. The battlefield is evolving into an environment of constant surveillance where concealment depends on managing thermal and electromagnetic signatures.
