Invisible fiberglass spiderwebs are turning drone airspace into a deadly trap

The biggest news comes from the Ukrainian battlefield airspace, where the balance of the drone war is shifting in an unexpected way. Fiber-optic FPV drones, once seen as unstoppable because they cannot be jammed, are now running into physical limits created by their own widespread use. As Russian forces flooded sectors with these drones, the ultra-thin guidance wires they leave behind began to accumulate across forests and fields. Over time, this debris has formed invisible fiberglass webs that entangle propellers and motors, causing drones to fail instantly without any active defense. Ironically, Russia’s earlier drone waves are now passively shielding Ukrainian positions by turning low-altitude airspace into a mechanical trap. What started as a breakthrough against electronic warfare is increasingly becoming a constraint that degrades drone effectiveness for both sides.
