Ukraine to gain 500 km ballistic reach and threaten Russian logistics
For most of the war, Ukraine’s ability to strike deep inside Russia has been constrained not by intent, but by access to suitable weapons and political limits on their use. Long-range pressure relied on scarce legacy systems and selective Western transfers, keeping Russia’s strategic rear largely insulated from sustained attack. This allowed Moscow to adapt by pushing logistics, command infrastructure, and industry just far enough beyond Ukraine’s reach to preserve operational depth. That balance is now under strain as Western support shifts from enabling episodic strikes to building enduring strike capacity. When long-range weapons are designed specifically for Ukraine rather than drawn from limited stockpiles, the strategic ceiling begins to lift. What matters now is not a single missile system, but the emergence of a structural ability to contest Russia’s depth on a permanent basis.
