Inside Ukraine’s anti-drone tunnels saving soldiers along supply routes

The battlefield in Ukraine has evolved into a drone-dominated environment, forcing both sides to innovate rapidly to protect troops and supplies. Even simple tools, such as repurposed fishing nets, have become vital defensive assets against low-flying drones. France has supplied hundreds of kilometers of these nets, which are deployed over trenches and roads to physically block or entangle attacking UAVs. Drones now create kill zones that extend tens of kilometers behind the front, threatening supply lines and troop movements. Anti-drone nets, combined with careful excavation and pole placement, form protective tunnels that operate continuously without fuel or electricity. While not invulnerable to artillery or skilled attacks, these low-tech solutions have proven highly effective, reducing losses and keeping vital logistics moving.
