Russian parliament openly calls to end the failed war in Ukraine
Russia is entering a phase of the war where battlefield stagnation is beginning to translate into political stress at home. The gap between official narratives of inevitable victory and the visible reality of attrition, isolation, and failure is becoming harder to conceal. What once existed as private doubt among citizens and quiet analysis online is increasingly bleeding into formal institutions. The Kremlin’s system relies on the appearance of unanimity, but prolonged war without decisive results erodes that foundation over time. As losses accumulate and goals remain unmet, loyalty becomes conditional rather than automatic. This environment creates the conditions where even tightly controlled political spaces start to leak truths the system was designed to suppress.
