Comprehensive Battlefront Breakdown: A Strategic Look at Every Front

Today, we will discuss the most interesting developments along the front line, focusing on Sumy, Kursk, Kharkiv, Siversk, and Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka regions.

In the Kursk sector, Ukrainian forces maintain continuous pressure by effectively targeting Russian troop concentrations with precision HIMARS strikes and air raids.

These attacks are complemented by infantry raids against Russian strongpoints, particularly around Tyotkino, forcing the enemy to divert critical reserves away from the Sumy front. This persistent Ukrainian threat is strategically exhausting Russian resources, limiting their operational flexibility, and complicating their attempts to reinforce advances elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the situation in northern Sumy is steadily worsening due to relentless enemy infantry assaults. Despite Ukraine’s success in striking enemy groupings swiftly, Russian forces here managed to quickly replenish their ranks, sending continuous waves that challenge defensive efforts. However, due to the large number of Ukrainian strikes on enemy forces concentrations, Russians have been forced to significantly tone down their efforts, focusing their attention on this part of the Sumy front.

Russian infantry units have already infiltrated Kindrativka, where Ukrainian defenders struggle to hold positions due to overwhelming numbers. Similar intense fighting rages around Oleksiivka, where Ukrainian forces have halted advances on the northern outskirts, yet constant Russian rushes continue. Favorable weather conditions allow Ukrainian drones and artillery to operate effectively, but the enemy’s numerical superiority is complicating the defense significantly.

Currently, Russia appears to be gathering large infantry formations, preparing to advance towards Khotin.

Soon, the city of Sumy itself will likely be directly threatened by Russian fiber-optic FPV drones, just as they have done when coming into range of other Ukrainian towns and cities, posing a critical challenge and threat for Ukrainian defenders and civilians alike.

Despite manpower shortages and insufficient countermeasures to enemy drone attacks, Ukrainian forces remain resilient, urgently requesting additional reinforcements to stabilize the deteriorating frontline situation.

In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces have intensified their activity around Stroivka, launching frequent assaults directly targeting areas defended by specialized Ukrainian units. Small Russian sabotage and reconnaissance teams have begun infiltrating local forest belts, testing the robustness of Ukrainian defenses. A recent attempt to rapidly seize control of the village itself was swiftly countered, although Russian troops notably refrained from establishing permanent positions. Instead, the enemy's current strategy appears focused on probing and exhausting Ukrainian resources, potentially preparing similar operations against villages further west. These maneuvers could ultimately threaten to overstretch Ukrainian defenses, facilitating a Russian attempt to move along the Oskil River from the north.

Switching to the Siversk sector, Russian forces persistently attempt to advance from the south and east, demonstrating clear intentions to capture the town. Securing Siversk would significantly enhance Russia’s strategic position, enabling them to threaten Ukraine’s key defensive strongholds, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhivka, and Kostiantynivka, from an additional northern axis. This move would also help Russia apply pressure on the southern flank of the Ukrainian-held Lyman sector, supporting their broader aim of pushing toward the Oskil River.

However, the Russian assaults in the Siversk sector have thus far consisted primarily of probing actions, involving small infantry detachments, motorcycle squads, and occasional thinly armored vehicles. These incursions have repeatedly been neutralized through precision Ukrainian drone strikes, indicating strong Ukrainian aerial surveillance and quick response capabilities.

Despite these setbacks, the Russians continue their persistent pressure near Verkhnokamianske, signaling their serious resolve to eventually advance in this critical direction.

Shifting focus to the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka sector, after Russian forces penetrated a weak point in the frontline and created a dangerous new threat toward two of Ukraine’s strategically vital cities in Donbas, heavy battles continue. Both Ukrainian and Russian commanders are urgently attempting to secure decisive advantages before the anticipated summer offensives intensify further.

Despite intense pressure, Ukrainian forces continue to steadfastly hold defensive lines, inflicting considerable losses on advancing Russian units through precision strikes and concentrated counterattacks. Although combat footage from this area remains sparse due to the chaotic and high intensity of fighting in the area, the limited available geolocated images and videos indicate severe losses among Russian assault groups.

In response to the severity of the situation, the Ukrainian high command has urgently redeployed several more drone units along with additional infantry reinforcements to the sector.

Ukrainian commanders recognize the critical risk posed by further Russian advances, which could potentially compromise defensive positions not only around Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka but also threaten nearby Toretsk, significantly complicating Ukraine’s defensive posture in the broader Donbas region.

Overall, at Sumy and Kursk, the Ukrainians targeted Russian concentrations of forces but for the moment the Russians continue to push hard.

Meanwhile, east of Kharkiv, the Russians are trying to find a weak point to advance along the Oskil River without success.

Near Siversk, Russian attempts to reach the town and breakthrough forward continue to fail, as probing attacks intensify.

Between Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka the initial Russian success was slowed down as Ukrainians brought in more elite reinforcements.
