Today, the biggest news comes from Ukraine.

Here, the Vampires own the night, emerging as Ukraine’s biggest killer and its most feared heavy bomber drone close air support. In 2025, no other weapon system matched its strike count, lethality, or impact on the battlefield, becoming a core pillar of the Ukrainian armed forces, and surprisingly significant budget drain on the Russian.

A new report shows that, in 2025, the Vampire drone bomber emerged as Ukraine’s deadliest weapon. According to verified statistics comparing all Ukrainian weapons systems, the Vampire drone killed the highest number of Russian soldiers, had the highest success rate per strike mission, and received the largest number of unit orders in the Bomber drone category on the Brave1 Market platform. Moreover, Vampire drones conducted over 2.5 million combat missions in 2025, showing the massive extent of it use. These missions inflicted over 10 billion dollars in cumulative damage on Russian forces and equipment, equivalent to approximately 6.9 percent of Russia’s total defense budget that year.

The Vampire drone is a heavy hexacopter bomber drone that drops mortar-style munitions and returns to base. The Ukrainian company SkyFall developed and designed it specifically for military operations, giving it a relatively high payload capacity of 15 kilograms, sufficient for carrying various types of thermobaric, high-explosive, and fragmentation weapons, along with a large number of supplies.

Its flight endurance is 23 minutes, making it ideal for short to medium-range pre-targeted strikes and direct bombing runs. The Vampire drone has an effective operational range of 45 kilometers, enabling the operator to simultaneously engage targets deep behind enemy lines and from a safe distance.

Importantly, the drone is impressively sturdy, able to withstands attacks from multiple Russian interceptor drones or net guns, and still survive to conduct the mission and return to base; able to be redeployed and reused after repairs due to its simplistic design.

The combination of these capabilities makes the Vampire drone unique among Ukrainian drones and a true game-changer on the battlefield, as it offers a versatile mission set, both able to conduct devastating strikes against opposing forces as well as being a crucial lifeline for Ukrainian units cut off from ground resupply.

To deploy it on the battlefield, Ukrainians first use reconnaissance drones and ground units to locate and verify Russian targets. The appropriate payload is then attached to the Vampire drone according to the mission type and intended target. Once all preparations are complete, the Vampire drone takes off and once stabilizes directly above the target, the operator activates a remote-controlled drop, releasing one or more payloads onto the target. Upon successful completion of the mission, the operators safely return the Vampire drone to their base.

Typically, Ukrainians attach a series of fragmentation bombs to Vampire drones when attacking Russian infantry, which explode and scatter in all directions, causing fatalities among Russian soldiers. In addition, to destroy Russian bunkers, dugouts, and fortified buildings, Ukrainians mount a single heavy high-explosive bomb on these drones, capable of penetrating reinforced concrete structures and delivering devastating strikes.

Furthermore, to disrupt Russian logistical supply lines, Ukrainians employ Vampire drones to plant mines on critical supply routes, severely hindering the transport of Russian provisions.

These drone strikes not only degrade the enemy’s direct combat capabilities but also disrupt supply chains and battlefield mobility, significantly reducing the overall operational effectiveness of the Russian forces.

The Vampire drone has not only enhanced Ukraine’s operational capabilities but has also played a critical role in addressing the complex challenges that arise on the battlefield. First, a distinctive feature of the Vampire drone is its ability to conduct reliable strikes both day and night. In particular, for effective nighttime operations, the drone is equipped with advanced thermal and optical cameras, which enable operators to detect and track Russian targets even in complete darkness and ensure precise attacks. Besides this, the Vampire drone is capable of delivering water, food, medicine, and other essential supplies to soldiers stationed on the front lines.

Currently, approximately 100,000 Vampire drones are being produced annually to supply every frontline brigade in Ukraine. These drones are regularly upgraded, with Skyfall priding themselves in internalizing every combat feedback they receive. In a recent modification, some Vampire drones have been equipped with small infrared projectors, which interfere with the ability of Russian infrared cameras to detect and accurately target them in the darkness, blinding Russians trying to shoot down an invisible target.

Overall, the Vampire drone has brought a revolutionary change to Ukraine’s warfare strategy, executing precise attacks under the cover of night and inflicting extensive damage on Russian forces. Its reusable design, heavy payload capacity, and advanced thermal imaging technology have transformed battlefield dynamics, enabling Ukraine to address logistical challenges and significantly enhance frontline operational capabilities. In the future, increased production and technological development of this drone will elevate Ukraine’s strategic advantage, further constraining Russian advances on the frontline.
